Made of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet colored 2010 Poujeaux features notions of sweaty leather, baked plums and crème de cassis with hints of sautéed herbs and tobacco. Medium-bodied, the palate is a little lean and chewy, with an herbal lift on the finish. 87 points

Deep ruby. Pure, soil-driven aromas of raspberry, blackcurrant, spices and crushed rock are lifted by a captivating floral element. Sweet, dense, and spicy on entry, then shows an enticing restrained sweetness and good verve to its red and black fruit flavors. Finishes with substantial but noble tannins and very good length, with a persistent minerality. 88-91 points
