Regardless of how you choose to make your Champagne rosé, the style has a valid place in most houses' portfolios. Even Le Mesnil - a small co-op in the finest spot for Chardonnay in the region - is moved to make a rather good rosé. There are two methods - the saignée, where the Pinot juice is separated after some skin contact - and the addition of red wine to the blend, with Champagne famously being the only European wine allowed to do this.

It is a widely misunderstood category and the previous outing had unexpected winners and losers. We'll be tasting some very fine wines and hopefully you'll find plenty to enjoy and something to learn. After our heads-up email a few weeks ago we only have a very few places remaining, so if you would like to come, please let us know by return. /CW
