Matetic Vineyards


Matetic Vineyards is a family-owned producer of organic and biodynamic wines based in the valley of El Rosario in Chile, a coastal valley located west of the capital, Santiago. Founded in 1999, they now farm four vineyards. in the DO Valle de San Antonio, their home El Rosario Vineyard is 19km from the Pacific Ocean; 67 hectares planted to a wide range of varieties. La Casona, planted in 2005 in the same DO, is a 4.7hectare vineyard devoted to Sauvignon Blanc, a mere 13km from the ocean. In the DO Valle de Casablanca, the Santo Thomas Vineyard (18km from the ocean, planted in 2005) is a 41hectare site planted to a range of varieties; and their youngest vineyard is the Valle Hermoso Vineyard, 15km from the ocean, planted in 2007 to Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. The Corralillo range, named for an old wine cellar that used to operate in the El Rosario valley, features entry-level wines produced both from their own vineyards and from purchased fruit. The EQ (equilibrio) range is produced from their own vineyards, usually site-specific. /JH
