Leung Estate

Owned by a dentist but we won`t hold that against him this time. Edward Leung originally went to New Zealand to study tooth torture before returning to Hong Kong with his wife Marjory. After a few years the call of New Zealand became beyond insistent and the couple made their home near Wellington. The call of New Zealand is as nothing compared to that of Pinot Noir however and so it came to pass that they planted just over 3 hectares of Martinborough mostly with high density Pommard and Dijon clones of Pinot and some Mendoza clone Chardonnay. The vineyards are managed by Glenys Hanson, who has worked in Martinborough more or less since it became a wine region. Another highly experienced Marlborough hand, Wendy Potts, has run the winemaking for some time and between them they produce pure and texturally seductive wines.(21/08/19)
