Johann is a very talented young man, who has survived the break up of his family`s estate and come away with some good land, some old vines and some great ideas. At time of writing we only have one of his wines, which shows great promise. His wines sell out and are all on allocation, but they have a character that is well worth seeking out. You could describe them as sauvage, in the sense that they are brilliant examples of Syrah that reflect their origin. In the case of the Cornas and St-Peray that is quite distinctive, but even the entry level young vine cuvee the sense of place shines through. We follow with interest. (CW 25/06/13)
