At first glance the Richez HQ in a slightly down at heel building behind a scruffy railway staion in Burgundy`s least likely wine town might seem the last place you`d find brilliant wine. But as so often I was wrong. Nathalie was a marine engineer up in Normandy before answering the call of the vine and investing in vineyards around the Chalonnaise and Cotes de Beaune. She has reds and whites, the latter mostly from Bouzeron Aligote, the reds are Pinot Noir. And what Pinot Noir. From her unfashionable vineyard sites in the Hautes Cotes, Maranges and Bourgogne she has no problem fashioning some of the most delicate and perfumed Burgundies. Yet they are amazing value. Nathalie is a vigneronne to watch. (CW 14/11/17)
