An eight week exploration of the world's prime regions

Lengthening evenings are the perfect motivation to get out more and learn something new. The chance to taste and learn a bit in convivial company is a fine way to achieve self-improvement and spend an evening having fun. So the Educator has arranged an introductory course comprising 8 sessions, each of two hours and with six wines to taste. You receive a course manual with space for your notes together with maps and plenty of useful information. Who should take this course? Anybody who wants to feel more confident when faced with a list of wines, for a start. Then if you enjoy wine and want to discover more about its history and production this is for you.

Need closure? This is the tasting for you

Cork is a fascinating topic, controversial and conventional in equal measure. On one hand reassuring and utterly traditional; on the other a source of flavour and faults, the bit of tree bark that wine producers have been banging into the tops of our bottles for what seems like time immemorial has fans and detractors.

Sam Caporn MW will seek to separate science from mythology for you.

Sam has been a Master of Wine for five years after previously working for Majestic Wines. Sam now runs a wine tasting, consultancy, The Mistress of Wine, and has been awarded The Madame Bollinger Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Practical Paper and is also a wine judge, primarily as a Panel Chair at the International Wine Challenge. She has been studying cork on the ground in Portugal, both in the dehesa, modern plantations and in the labs and factories of cork processors and is in a great position to demystify the subject.

N.V. Pol Roger Brut Reserve
N.V. Billecart-Salmon Brut Reserve

Treasure hunters in the world of sherry

When a couple of friends with intimate knowledge of the world of sherry realised that some very special casks were lying forgotten about in the cellars of Jerez, they took action. Starting with a cask of Amontillado, they bottled the wine for themselves, and quickly found a following of hardcore fans. That was 2005, and what began as a personal passion became an ongoing project, Equipo Navazos.

We're delighted to be welcoming Jesus Barquin, criminologist, sherry aficionado and co-founder of Equipo Navazos to Uncorked for a very special sherry tasting.
