The 2020 Chenin Blanc Waterford comes from old vines, the oldest planted in 1966 supplemented by vines planted in the seventies, fermented in concrete tanks (FYI, from 2021 onwards, this label will come exclusively from the vines planted in 1966). It has quite an intense bouquet, a little richer than its peers, scents of yellow fruit, melted candle wax and a dab of stem ginger. The palate is well balanced with tropical notes on the entry: passion fruit, apricot and peach skin. I like the slightly resinous texture here, and it expresses the variety well on the finish. Drink it over the next 7-10 years. 90 points
