A lovely vintage for Belondrade, and this wine enjoys beautiful definition. The first notes are grassy and nettley; they are quickly succeeded by intense, zesty lemon and some slightly more tropical fruit. Then there`s a touch of late-palate richness that could be sweetcorn or breadcrumb, not to mention a lick of posh oak. On the palate there is a tension between the sweet fruit and the high energy acidity each trying to take your mouth in different directions. It`s the sort of tension that is the mark of a great wine. This is class. (NT 30/05/22)

The 2020 Belondrade y Lurton is already sold out, but for completeness of our database I tasted it next to the current 2021. 2020 was a little warmer and drier, and the wine shows a golden color and a more developed nose with notes of yellow fruit, pollen and hay and a little quince too with time in the glass. The palate is soft and tender, with integrated acidity, very good balance, power and elegance and the pleasant bitter twist in the finish. It`s riper at 14.2% alcohol. 106,800 bottles, 1,743 magnums and some larger formats produced. It was bottled in July 2021. 94 points
