Vigneau-Chevreau is one of only two certified biodynamic estates in Vouvray. From their chalky limestone cave of a cellar they raise fine expressions of what is (virtually) the only permitted grape variety here, Chenin Blanc. The Silex cuvee comes from flint and clay soils, and brings a slightly leaner, sharper expression of Chenin`s typically honeyed character. It is mainly raised in stainless steel, with a small amount in barrel for extra complexity. Notes of lemon and honey, grass and lanolin. A very classic dry Vouvray. (NT 30/09/24)

The 2023 Vouvray Cuvee Silex is a light and tender style that`s easy to drink from the off. Displaying floral and fresh orchard fruit notes, a hint of residual sugar rounds its edges, while a nice freshness and a little lick of tang hold things together. The 2023 will be enjoyable upon release. 87 points
