The first Albarino plantings in the country, and an almost immediate success, especially within South Africa where this wine can be quite tricky to find! Classically fresh and zesty, with a touch of creaminess from time on the lees to balance the linear, mineral core. An ideal pairing with seafood, and superb value. (JH 18/072024)

Vineyards planted in 2011 and 2012. Fermented in concrete, aged on lees in stainless steel and old oak. Ye gods this is intense! Intensely apricot, so salty it’s like potassium salts. Stinging acidity, but in a way that makes you feel alive and breathless. Bracing. Quince, kumquat. Quick and urgent. Outstanding. It’s not often I taste an Albarino that could stand shoulder to shoulder with the best of Rias Baixas, but this one could. No hurry to drink it, either. 17.5 points
