Mandarin, grapefruit and candied citrus notes with a lick of posh oak; today`s vanilla will be tomorrow`s hazelnut. There is a bit of tropical fruit in there too, pineapple and passionfruit. A beautifully vivid, vivacious style that sites this wine as halfway between a zesty Puligny-Montrachet and a lusher Sonoma Coast Chardonnay. Though it`s not Chardonnay at all, of course; this is the finest Verdejo you will ever come across. (NT 16/10/24)

Extremely complex, sophisticated nose. Mouth-filling and creamy. You could confuse this with an absolutely tip-top white bordeaux, but perhaps this is better! Like fermented lemon drops. Really gorgeous flavours and texture. Utterly compelling. 18.5 points

The spicy 2022 Belondrade y Lurton was cropped from a warm and dry year when they had to harvest quite early. The nose shows no signs of excess ripeness; it feeels quite fresh and harmonious. It`s elegant, surprisingly restrained, clean and with integrated oak, contained ripeness and 14% alcohol on the label. It`s tasty and harmonious, finishing dry with a clean, long and chalky finish. It was bottled in July 2023. 94 points
