Initially a heady blast of ripe blackberry and cherry fruit, surprisingly light and somewhat lacking in substance... yet with air this wine fills out splendidly, taking on blackcurrant, kirsch, white pepper, almond, cherry-stone and even, suprising for a wine so young, some elements of earth and forest floor. A magnificent transformation, indicating a long, delicious life ahead for this unusual (in Oz - Shiraz is a popular blending component in southern Portugal) blend of 55% Shiraz, 45% Touriga Nacional.
