Although Ch de Bonnezeaux is an ancient and lauded domaine, from the 1980s it gradully fell into disrepair and was largely abandoned. It was rescued by Guyonne Saclier de la Bâtie and her uncle Louis de Bouëxic de Pinieux in 2012. Since the AOP Bonnezeaux is only for sweet wines, dry versions like this have to be sold as vin de France. Frimas was made with purchased fruit because in 2019 yields were frightenly low and they had very little other fruit. The grapes here are basket-pressed and minimal sulphur is used. (CW 23/06/21)
