Chateau Biac: Bordeaux of terroir
As ever we're delighted to welcome one of our greatest friends from Bordeaux, Yasmina Asseily from Chateau Biac. Apart from using their rather delightful gîtes as a base for most of our visits to the region, we've sold their wines almost since they became commercially available. Having bought the estate, not quite on a whim; rather a coup de coeur, they have restored and upgraded the vineyards and built new, gravity-fed cellars.
The vineyards are of course the heart of the operation and their unusual (for Bordeaux) steep slopes and amphitheatre shape are an extraordinary geological feature. The slopes comprise five different soil types, each uniquely suitable for one of their grape varieties.
Today we're tasting reds from the warm 2012 vintage and Yasmina will be able to take you through them in her inimitable style. /CW
