We haven't long finished the 2012 futures campaign for Bordeaux, but what does the future hold for this crucial wine region? And just why is it that so many wine lovers enjoy these complex wines?

As an Atlantic-facing, low-lying area, much of the land is threatened by ferocious and frequent storms as well as rising sea levels. Some of the top producers have pressed the self-destruct button as far as Chinese markets are concerned, while others struggle to find a market at all. Yet on so many levels the wines are so enjoyable.

Over four weeks we will taste some of the best of Bordeaux of differing styles and levels, including some real treats, and while we do that we will look at the history and examine the crystal ball. We'll study the geography and people who make the wine and get a real sense of the place and quality. /CW
