G de Guiraud is different from many other dry whites from Sauternes houses. During the ownership of noted eccentric Paul Rival he planted loads of Sauvignon Blanc in a fit of what he considered pioneering enthusiasm. This might not be great for Sauternes, but for the G it is perfect, with plenty of bite and freshness while the Semillon adds a little weight. A very good aperitif wine, it will accompany fish and even Thai food admirably. (CW 08/02/12)
