The `fermage` system of tenancy practised in France can bring great benefits to both parties, but not when your tenants use all the best fruit for their Petrus. Now firmly back in charge, the owner Jeremy Chasseuil is a great believer in vineyard work, this attention to the vines paid dividends in 07. The vineyard, sloping down from St John`s Church deployed it`s usual magic and the new hallmarks of the property. Freshness, restraint and concentrated fruit are here in spades. (CW 07/08)

Robert Parker
A sensational effort, this up-and-coming over-achiever has hit pay dirt with a 2007 that achieved 13.5% natural alcohol. It possesses a dense ruby/purple color along with a big, sweet nose of mulberries, boysenberries, spring flowers, and a hint of mocha. Deep, ripe, fleshy, succulent, and loaded with fruit, it tastes as if it came from a completely different vintage than 2007 given its depth and length. Consume it over the next 10+ years. 90 points
