Anthony Mueller
The 2022 The 1947 Chenin Blanc offers a straw color and a mineral-driven nose that exudes freshness and a spicy essence reminiscent of white spiced tea. It unfolds on the palate to deliver immense pleasure with notes of lemon, oatmeal and yellow apple, complemented by toasted pineapple. The finish is substantial and decidedly food friendly. This lovely Chenin Blanc conveys a minty, delightful and cerebral freshness. 93+ points

The 2022 Chenin Blanc The 1947 comes from 1.1 hectares of bush vines planted in that year by Danie Jr`s great-grandfather. It is 50% whole bunch pressed and 50% crushed and matured in 500-liter barrels for ten months. It has a seductive bouquet showcasing the yellow plummy fruit, with touches of egg whites, custard creams and an underlying mineralite. The palate is very well-balanced, with real depth and elegance. Perfectly-pitched acidity, quite linear and focused, tensile with a touch of stem ginger on the finish. Excellent. 93 points
