Clearly, classically Viognier on the aromas - melon, ripe red and green apple, pear, delectable. The palate, however, is delightfully crisp, fanning out on the finish without the bitter note typical of the variety. Altitude plays a role here, Serol are so far up the Loire Valley as to almost be in the Rhone! Their Viognier vines are propogated from cuttings taken from the Condrieu vineyards of Yves Cuilleron, and the result is this delicious, beautifully poised wine. (JH 27/06/2024)
