60 metres from top to bottom and almost entirely owned by Domaine des Lambrays, Clos des Lambrays is one of the great Morey-St-Denis grand crus. It was owed by the monks of Citeaux for centuries, broken up after the revolution and painstakingly reassembled into an (almost) single holding by one determined 19th century owner. While it largely faces east, marked surface undulations create diversity in aspect. Soils are also very different at different elevations of the slope. Packed with red fruit, incense and spice, this is very aromatically intense and it is immediately obvious we are dealing with grand cru quality here. The texture in the mouth is pure, fresh and silky, with an amazing attack at the rear of the palate: the crescendo of energy leads into a pronounced, long finish. Stunning quality. A wine with a huge future. (NT 24/12/24)

The 11 plots were made separately and reunited just before the bottling. The terroir delimited in 1365 rests whole, with nothing declassified. Intense black purple with some glycerol legs. Sweetly dark fruit with the whole bunches hidden. A multitude of different red fruit notes speed across the palate and then the stems do show a little, gracefully, at the finish, along with some oak. As with La Richemone one can see that this vintage is not as concentrated as the previous one, but the wine has been beautifully made with rare distinction. Fine tannins to finish. Drink from 2033-2045. 95-98 points
