John Livingstone-Learmonth
(cask) deep red; there is good smoky persistence on the nose, a true Bessards expression, blue fruit, cherry with a coffee, lime juice note. The palate runs very well with elegant flow of lucid black cherry fruits, its tannins well slotted in, is very continuous from attack to finish, an elegant and handsome wine, the length really good. It’s well orchestrated and accomplished. Its iron fits in really well, isn’t on the outside as it can be, and it carries loads of blue fruit. This is the first Rhône vineyard I visited 50 years ago, and here is the 50th vintage from it since then. From 2027-28. 2051-53 5 stars
