The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru is from the last vineyard Tawse picked in 2019 and is completely destemmed. It has a very well-defined bouquet of intense red fruit, a strong marine influence and wonderful mineralité. The palate is silky-smooth with fine delineation and harmony, more black and blueberry fruit emerging toward the seamlessly integrated finish. A beautifully crafted Lavaux Saint-Jacques. 93-95 points

Many of the vines were planted shortly after the Second World war, but the lower part of the vineyard dates back to 1928. Low yields therefore, all destemmed, with 50% new oak. Fine fresh mid purple. This gorgeous Lavaux St-Jacques has a brilliant bouquet, with sensual raspberry fruit that retains subtle nuances. So harmonious, the sweet delicious fruit is backed by really good grip. Hard to do better than this. 94-97 points

There is lovely purity to the super-fresh and quite floral nose of dark currants, game and newly turned earth that displays an herbal tea top note. The almost painfully intense and strikingly energetic mineral-inflected middle weight plus flavors are tautly muscular though not really rustic while displaying excellent persistence on the youthfully austere and very firmly structured finish. This is terrific and worth searching out. 91-94 points
