Gorgeous cola, iodine and blackberry aromas from this Cote Rotie, almost saline in their freshness and intensity. These umami characters are replicated on the palate, along with cherry and raspberry fruit, and a gravelly, coffee-bean complexity. The tannins are soft and delicate, and the finish lasts well over a minute. This Champin de Seigneur is showing brilliantly for a wine which, by most standards, is still young, with a lot of life and development still ahead. (JH 18/01/22)

by. Lively, mineral-accented cherry and black raspberry aromas are complemented by suggestions of exotic spices, violet and white pepper. Silky and broad in the mouth, offering intense red and blue fruit liqueur, spicecake and floral pastille flavors that become sweeter as the wine stretches out. The floral note carries strongly through the expansive, spice-accented finish, which shows real energy and velvety, slow-building tannins. 93 points
