Fiona McDonald
Sublimely subtle 2019 is broad yet focused. Winemaking as detailed as ever, including portion natural ferment. Like stellar 2018 (4.5 stars, 94 pts), 70% new oak, with lees contact (barrel rolling instead of stirring). Succulent yet creamy, with marmalade & zest vivacity. 95 points

Nine Yards has shifted in style over the last few vintages away from honey and butterscotch flavours to something fresher and, I think, better balanced. Toasty, spicy and focused, with good zip, stylish 70% new wood and a textured mid palate. Drink 2021-26. 93 points
