The curious case of the slow-fermenting Rieslings, and other secrets of 2014 Alsace - £40 per head
We're delighted to be welcoming Oliver Humbrecht from Domaine Zind-Humbrecht back to Uncorked for his annual visit. Charming as well as erudite, Olivier is great company and his visits are always a fascinating event from which we never fail to learn something, usually lots of things. Every vintage is different, each with its own curiousities, ups ands downs. Olivier's visit falls later than usual this year due to the exceptionally slow ferment of his 2014 Rieslings, but these are utterly splendid. It's also a very dry vintage with few sweet wines, and little Gewurztraminer. Olivier will be telling us about all of this and more. Come along for what promises to be a splendid evening.
The wines we'll be tasting are:
- Zind Chardonnay Auxerrois
- Gewurztraminer Calcaire
- Gewurztraminer Turckheim
- Pinot Gris Rotenberg
- Pinot Gris Clos Windsbuhl
- Pinot Gris Heimbourg
- Riesling Heimbourg
- Riesling Clos Windsbuhl 2014
- Riesling Brand Grand Cru
- Riesling Rangen de Thann Clos Saint Urbain Grand Cru
