Deep plum red colour, grilled sandalwood oak toast, this is definitely going long on extraction with fairly overt construction, but the tannins just stay on the right side of austere, and there ar berry fruits underneath. 90 points

The 2024 Puyblanquet is a very pretty wine from the Malet-Roquefort family. Dark cherry, mocha, espresso, licorice, plum and spice all meld together in this mid-weight Saint-Emilion. Plush contours wrap it all up. This stylish, pliant wine has a lot to offer. I especially admire its mid-palate depth, which was hard to come by in 2024. This could be a real sleeper. 90-92 points

The 2024 Puyblanquet was picked between September 25 and October 9 at 38 hl/ha and was aged in 60% new oak, including some 500-litre barrels. It has an open and expressive bouquet with black cherries and cassis, quite floral with pressed violet emerging with time. The palate is smooth and velvety on the entry with ripe tannins, similar to its stablemate La Gaffeliere. It boasts good weight with a slightly powdery finish. Excellent. 91-93 points
