Jane Anson
Dense and well-extracted blackberry fruits, silky tannins, touch of raspberry puree, grilled cumin, cloves, toast, plenty of appellation signature even if the final impression is savoury and fresh, as the acidities kick in on the close of play. 4% press. 58% new oak for ageing. 92 points

The 2024 Domaine de L`Eglise is broad and ample in the glass. Black cherry, new leather, cloves, incense, licorice, chocolate and dried herbs are dialed up in this decidedly heady, dense Pomerol. There`s no shortage of depth or resonance here. It will be so interesting to see how this develops. The 2024 is certainly promising. 92-94 points

The 2024 Domaine de l`Eglise was picked between September 20 and October 5. It was raised in 58% new oak for a planned 16 months. This has a winsome bouquet with pure blackberry and wild strawberry scents, joined by black truffle and mocha notes with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. Light but well balanced, this Pomerol has more weight on the finish compared to its stablemate, La Croix du Casse. This is a ‘useful’ Pomerol. 88-90 points
