Eric Guido
The 2022 Rosso di Montalcino Ignaccio is exotic with a seductive blend of spiced blood orange, wild strawberries, rose petals and a dusting of spice. Juicy and vividly fresh, it sweeps across the palate with ripe raspberry and cherry-berry fruits while taking on a coating of chalky minerality toward the close. Sour citrus enlivens the experience as this finishes long and staining yet still remarkably fresh. The mouth waters for more under an air of violet inner florals. Simply spellbinding. This is already a total pleasure, yet it has the balance for short-term cellaring. Due to the changes in the Rosso di Montalcino regulations, Il Marroneto will be able to use another hectare, originally planted for IGT Sangiovese, in their Rosso in the coming vintages, which means more of this glorious juice to go around. 93 points
