Colle Ticchio
The profile of Cesanese may have dipped somewhat since the Middle Ages when Pope Innocent III called it the `King of Wines`, but it`s still well worth getting to know this characterful Lazio speciality- and Corte dei Papi are one of the prime producers here. Savoury and moreish, with rich, yoghurty dark fruit (think bramble and blackberry) and a touch of white pepper on the finish, this is lovely. The tannins are not too grippy and this is ready to go. Surprisingly serious for a wine at this price point! (NT 13/01/20)
