Allen Meadows
A 3.5 ha monopole with 30+ year old vines. Reduction dominates the nose. By contrast to the funky nose, there is a lovely inner mouth perfume to the precise, intense and vibrant middle weight plus flavors that possess good volume. There is admirable persistence on the quite firm finish that is at once pure and actually rather refined, which is not always the case with this wine. Worth a look. 2022+. 90-92 points

4 hectare monopole – “this is the most classic representation of the style of Gouges now.” Lifted, bright and high toned. Spice and white pepper. The tannins are subtle and silky. There is clarity and purity of fruit. Fresh acidity, engaging energy and fine texture. Some taut minerality on the finish. Towards fine. Score 17.5 From 2016/17

Lightly reduced too but fragrant and with good vibrancy of fruit. Relatively luscious if one compares with the Gouges style of old. 16 points
