Quinta do Ameal
Quinta do Ameal has a long history, being recorded as a vineyard in 1710 and situated in a parish that was in existence before even Portugal. Located on the banks of the river Lima and set on an extensive property comprising at least as much forest as vineyard, the quinta is a classic Atlantic estate. The vine mainly grown is Loureiro and this is the highest quality white grape in the region. Viticulture is certified organic - and after a manual harvest slow and minimal handling in the cellar are the order of the day here. This is a producer making classy and elegant wines, very dry and with a slight spritz. (CW 05/08/14)
