Earthy, stony, savoury and herbal alongside all the reddish-purple Pinot fruit, there’s a lot of character here. Elegant and fresh, with a great sense of sapidity on the finish. Excellent. From 4 parcels at the Pommard end of the village, and 2 at the Meursault end, so fairly representative of village diversity. (NT 11/12/24)

Mid crimson purple. The nose is a little more restrained. Now some lively cherries on the palate with very good grip, a little bit of white pepper, with the fruit returning effortlessly behind. Smoothly charming. 90-92 points

The 2023 Volnay Village is a blend of six parcels. It has a light, earthy nose, with gravel scents permeating red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip and a hint of allspice, as touches of blueberry develop in the glass. It cuts away just a little abruptly on the finish, but it may fill out during its second winter in barrel. 87-89 points
