The 2019 Chablis Grenouilles Grand Cru is crisp and precise on the taut nose, perhaps not quite delivering the personality of either the Vaudesir or Valmur at this early juncture. Has it got something up its sleeve? The palate is more revealing, with fine acidity and exotic notes of wild peaches and nectarine. Generous and enticingly spicy on the finish. Superb, but be patient. 93+ points

Pale colour, but offering a powerful nose, with its characteristic spices. This is very harmonious on the palate, fills the mouth, waves of clean fresh fruit come through at the back. Grenouilles can live with the style of the vintage. 50% wood does not show. Lovely balanced complex aftertaste. This wine slightly exceeds 14% alcohol, but if any one Chablis vineyard can cope with that, it is Grenouilles. 92-96 points

This too is moderately reduced with some post-bottling sulfur in evidence so again, I would advise decanting it first if you`re going to crack a bottle upon release. More interesting are the round, caressing and solidly intense flavors that possess the best concentration in the entire range while delivering positively huge length on the markedly spicy finish. I was seriously impressed with this and moreover, it`s rare that the Grenouilles outperforms both the Les Clos and Vaudesir chez Droin. 94 points
