Eric Guido
The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino lifts from the glass with a spicy and earthy bouquet, leading off with hints of animal musk, green olive and woodland herbs. Notes of sour cherry, cedar shavings and blood orange open with time in the glass. This is round and soothing on the palate, with juicy acidity and mineral-drenched red berry fruit tones that saturate. A core of vibrant acidity maintains fantastic balance, as adolescent tannins pinch at the cheeks. The 2013 finishes remarkably fresh and spicy, lingering with a sweet, wild berry resonance that calls the taster back to the glass. This is beautiful today and will surely pay dividends in the cellar. 94 points
