Elegant, almost subtle aromas - unusual for Carménère which is usually produced in a much more ebullient style. Bright red fruit, with a hint of black cherry adding depth. The palate is lifted by bright, juicy acidity which carries the red fruit over an undertow of very delicate, ripe tannin and a balancing savoury note. The familiar blackberry leaf and green pepper notes of the variety can be detected, but only barely. A very drinkable, vibrant style of Carménère, quite delicious. (JH 19/10/21)

The 2018 Carménère Piu is dark and rich, with masses of ripe cherries complemented by autumnal spice and hints of ash. This is a juicy and vibrant effort with violet-tinged red berries and pretty inner florals. Flowers upon flowers, both purple and blue-toned, form through the long and staining finale, yet it remains only lightly structured. The 2018 is a highly pleasurable rendition of the Carmenere Piu. Of note is that this is balanced by a 15% dollop of Merlot. 89 points
