The Danbury Chardonnay has a balanced nose of rich mandarine and mealy oak. In the mouth there`s a fine acid spine and structure, unlike anything English I`ve tasted and the fruit is more restrained and lean, it is as if the temperature has been turned down and there`s more lemon/lime and flowers. This is a very ripe wine with masses of personality. Matured in oak, less than half new. Delicious poised and immensely classy wine with a long, cool finish that regards you with a quizzical, sidelong glance. (CW 09/08/21)

Offering up aromas of mandarin oil, citrus blossom and ripe orchard fruit, framed by subtle hints of nutmeg, Danbury Ridge`s 2018 Chardonnay is full-bodied, textural and enveloping, its satiny attack segueing into a fleshy mid-palate that`s girdled by bright acids, concluding with a mouthwatering and delicately exotic finish. Matured in barrels for 10 months, this is a real success. 5,005 bottles were produced and closed with Diam 30. 90 points

Complex and engaging. There is the sweetness of apricots and lemon pastries, a richness of bay leaf and toasty oak, and a tiny play of pithiness which works here thanks to the general ripeness. Lovely toasty depth, a flick of reductiveness, the framework stuffed with candied citrus and pear. A little more direct than the Octagon block. 92 points
