The 2013 Vinha Pan, seen before as a barrel sample, is a Baga aged for 24 months in 60% new French oak. It comes in at 12.5% alcohol. This is dramatically different than the last showing, having integrated its parts and come together brilliantly. This isn`t as good a vintage as the 2015, but it has pulled itself together. Showing the same elegant sensibilities as the bargain-priced 2015 Vinhas Velhas this issue, this adds a little power, more precision and a much longer finish. Its mid-palate finesse is exceptional. On the other hand, I preferred the 2015 Vinhas Velhas`s flavor and freshness. Comparing the two across vintages, I`m not sure the Vinhas Velhas is the better wine, but it is certainly the better bargain. As understated as this 2013 sometimes seems, this should age beautifully, perhaps better than anticipated. It will be approachable young, though. 90 points
