Most years Damian Colin at Domaine Marc Colin makes a single Sous le Roche Dumay 1er cru, but this year he has chosen instead to release a 1er cru that is an assemblage of three different vineyards, Frionnes, Champlots and Sous le Roche Dumay. He is also moving to the use of foudres rather than barriques, and rather less new wood than before. The result is a smart, well-integrated wine in which the crunchy, bright cherry fruit is to the fore with a discreet dusting of oak cast in a supporting role. (NT 06/11/15)
