Kuen Hof are based up in the Alto Adige, that part of North Italy that harks over the peaks and across the border to Austria, and even the local choices of grape variety are mostly Germanic; Silvaner is a variety now favoured in Germany, but found across Eastern Europe. It`s a naturally high acid variety that tends to be very good at picking up local terroir character; Kuen Hof`s Silvaner is more luscious and less chalky than many German examples. The lemon-and-lime character shows off the variety`s natural affinity to Riesling. From some of the highest vineyards on mainland Europe. (NT 19/08/16)
