(mostly from Rocche di Castiglione, Cannubi and Bric del Fiasc). Good medium red. Dark raspberry and mineral aromas, with a floral topnote that reminded me of Burgundy. Sweet and fine-grained, but at the same time more sharply delineated than the classico. Juicy, subtle and quite long, with excellent length, firm acid spine and smooth tannins. 92 points

The 2007 Barolo Carobric is a powerful wine loaded with dark red fruit, tar, incense and licorice. It is an explosive, flashy Barolo that captures the essence of the year. I find a wonderful balance of precision and richness in the glass, not to mention more than enough fruit to counter the incisive tannins. Though open at the outset, the Carobric shuts down quickly in the glass, suggesting it is headed for a period of dormancy. A second bottle was far more open and expressive and feminine, highlighting how hard it is to understand young Barolo! The Carobric is made from vineyards in Cannubi, Rocche di Castiglione and Bric del Fiasc. Drink 2017-2027. 94 points
