David Schildknecht recommended a couple more years ageing for this when he reviewed it in 09. He was right, and it is now showing magnificent, as Alex Ferguson would say. Look out for my monograph on the adverb in soccer. The wine is admirably fresh and mineral with actual energy and has structure, texture and fruit in lovely balance. A very fine wine from very low yielding vineyards. (CW 28/08/12)

David Schildknecht
The 2006 Le Soula smells fascinatingly of game, blackberries, rosemary, black olive, and toasted walnuts. Bitter-edged black fruits and persistent toasty nuttiness give the palate a distinctive piquancy, and the tannins here are palpably dense, but there is a refreshing brightness, almost a white wine-like snap and saline and wet stone minerality to the finish. This complex, relatively lean red appears to want another couple of years in bottle to take the proper measure of its potential. 89 points
