Neal Martin
Tasted at the vertical held at the property, the 2005 Château Siran, a blend of 51% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Petit Verdot, has a slightly pinched bouquet that lacks the same "flow" of the 2000 Siran. There is something just a little static here. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, like the nose a little rigid with a tough, leather, and dried herb finish that is masculine and austere. I have no doubt that it will drink for another decade, however, I much prefer the audacity and succulence of the 2000 Siran. 87 points
