This is always one of our most popular events of the year with the chance to hear Olivier - one of the most erudite characters in the business - expound on the region, his vineyards, the vintage - and who knows what else.

Given the reputation that Alsace has of being France's driest area, 2012 will have been a shock to anyone taking their summer holiday there. Nearly 240mm of rainfall fell in June and July including some devastating local hail. Although the season turned during August - autumn was as reliably dry and sunny as ever - it was a difficult year for farmers, who had to work hard to battle the inevitable problems that such conditions bring.

Come along next week and taste some of Olivier's 2012s, to see how his farming methods cope with the difficult times, as well as how they exploited the excellent September and early October. You will be able to have your questions answered as well as taste some of the most delicious white wines around. Numbers are limited; please drop us a line if you wish to attend. /CW
