Black Friday is here, marking the official beginning of the hurried rush to buy useless junk gifts. While we obviously advocate wine as an Xmas gift because it's something people actually want, we'd hate the gift-buyer to be forgotten amongst all the giving. Which is why, during your initial Christmas recon this afternoon, you should pop down to Uncorked, to taste some of Piedmont's finest modern-styled wines. Though it should prove to be a relatively busy affair, the crowds will be negotiable and top cru Barolo will prove an ample reward.
It goes without saying that the Cannubi vineyard is one of the most revered grands crus of Barolo, but Sandrone's wines are powerful and pretty across the range. These wines are longer than Dances With Wolves felt; they have aromatics endowed with afterburners. Today, we'll have a number available to taste FOC at our Bishopsgate shop from midday.
