Louis Roederer Brut Premier special offer

Roederer is one of my favorite Champagne houses. Every wine that emerges from this cellar in Reims is impeccable. - Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, November 2011

Still family owned, Roederer have vineyard holdings that supply nearly 70% of their needs, with over half being grand cru. The family has a history of surviving privations. The Russian incursion after the retreat from Moscow first nearly broke them and then made their fortune, until the Russian Revolution nearly ruined them again. They have a fine reputation for producing consistently excellent Champagne and don't rest on their laurels. They are trialling biodynamics on a large scale with nearly 80 hectares under conversion and use more oak, though never barriques, only foudres so as not to mark the wine.

This bottling is based on the rather fine 2010 vintage, though there are small parcels of five back vintages here. A very small amount of the wine has been aged in large oak. Partial malolactic is used and all three grape varieties, including a Krug-like 20% Pinot Meunier. It rests on its lees for three years and this was disgorged at the end of 2013. /CW
