Rochioli Vineyards new releases

“Many would argue that the Pinot Noir fruit from Rochioli Vineyard has no equal in the New World”- garyfarrellwines.com

Although Tom Rochioli's single vineyard Pinot Noirs are highly coveted, we're obliged to point out that Uncorked isn't the only place you can buy them. If you enlist on their website, the winery will add you to their waiting list. If you do it straightaway you should receive an offer shortly after the Olympics. Oh, hang on, that's the Rio Olympics. So I hope you'll understand why we're quite so delighted to bring you this offer.

What makes Rochioli so special? First and foremost is a Burgundian commitment to the land. Tom's grandfather, Joe, bought the estate in 1938 having fallen in love with it whilst farming it prior to that. But he could've had no inkling of its vinous potential because it was his son, also Joe, who planted the first vines over 20 years later. Over the half century since then, Joe and his son, Tom, have studied their vineyards as assiduously as any Cistercian might have done centuries ago. They divided it into discrete plots and planted accordingly, using only the best clones. The resulting fruit is gently encouraged to transmit the terroir from which it hails.

Rochioli wines have long been Uncorked favourites; only their limited production prevents us from making more fuss of them. /CW
