Kilikanoon pre-shipment offer

14 Sep 2011

Much has changed since our last Kilikanoon offer almost two and a half years ago. Then, there were well over two Aussie dollars to the pound. Powerful, rich Australian wines with big Parker scores were still - just about - in vogue. The UK was considered the most important export market by most top Australian wineries. But some things haven't changed. Following victory in the 2009 Ashes series, England continues its ascendancy in the world of cricket, while in Penwortham, deep in South Australia's renowned Clare Valley, Kevin Mitchell continues his, in the world of fine wine.

Despite the deterioration in the exchange rate, Kilikanoon continues to offer outstanding value for money. Kevin crafts wines which are proudly Australian, with lashings of fruit, but with minerality, structure and elegance, too. They are true to their (now many) origins, and have garnered praise from high and low, far and wide. Here are just a few recent accolades:

· 29 July 2011: 9 wines score over 94 points and 4 in “Best of the Best” in James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion 2012
· 18 June 2011: 3 golds and 2 “Best of Class” at the 2011 Los Angeles International Wine Competition
· 28 May 2011: Gold for Green's, R and Killerman's Run at the Concours Mondial 2011 de Bruxelles
· 26 May 2011: 2 golds, 3 silvers, 3 bronzes at the IWC
· 24 May 2011: 2009 Mort's Block in Matthew Jukes' Top 100

Still, we won't hold that against him because, above all, Kevin continues to fashion wines which are eminently drinkable. His experience of Shiraz now extends to the northern Rhone - its birthplace and spiritual home, where he's making Hermitage and Crozes - which adds yet another dimension to this dynamic winemaker, not to mention his wines from back home. /AR
