'The producer to watch in Serralunga' - Antonio Galloni

We first offered Davide Rosso's wines last autumn after paying him a visit. Since then his 2009s have become popular lines in the shop, with the impressive Serralunga bottling just making it under the pivotal £30 mark.

The Rossos are a family with considerable history in Barolo; they have been making wine in Serralunga since the 1890s, exploiting some of the very best Nebbiolo sites, incuding the legendary Vigna Rionda, 'the Holy Grail for Barolo lovers,' according to Antonio Galloni.

But it is Davide who is taking the wines to a new level. Having trained under both Grivot and Mortet, he's worked tirelessly to improve both vineyards and facilities, including the recent completion of a much needed new winery. The 2010s are very much the fruits of his labour, and position him firmly amongst the rising stars of Barolo. /AR
