Deutz 2002 Cuvee William Deutz

Cuvée William Deutz: 'one of the three best luxury cuvées on the market'

'The prestige Cuvée William Deutz is, in my view, one of the three best luxury cuvées on the market - as much a very fine wine as a Champagne, and one that never needs to prove its greatness amid the big, burly flavours so prevalent today.' - Michael Edwards, The Finest Wines of Champagne

'One of my absolute favourite houses... William Deutz is a Champagne that impresses me more and more... the height of elegance among Pinot-dominated Champagnes.' - Richard Juhlin, 4000 Champagnes

The fact that it's Madonna's favourite isn't the only reason to like Deutz Champagne. The very opposite of flashy, the house's subtle, layered and complex wines are much lauded by leading Champagne critics. Their wines are also immensely ageworthy so the release of 2002 Cuvée William Deutz is suitably late. Nevertheless, it is still a baby: when I tasted this just prior to the launch I was struck by how delicate and nuanced the wine is. It is certainly one to keep in bond for a considerable time to allow it to develop fully into the classic 2002 it will undoubtedly become. /CW
